Aidan J Reed, part of movewithus’ specialist property agency network, is proud to announce the launch of an environmentally-friendly initiative for Leicestershire home-movers. The property firm, incorporating chartered surveyors, auctioneers and estate agents under the same umbrella with five offices throughout the region, will give every visitor through the door a free, reusable ‘Jute’ shopping bag. ‘Jute’ bags are made of climate-neutral materials which are completely biodegradable and the ideal replacement for plastic bags.
The UK’s overuse of plastic bags has become a much debated and widely covered issue over 2008, especially as estimates now show that shoppers are given around 13 billion plastic bags every year by shops and supermarkets. Increasingly, shoppers are being mindful of the impact that these disposable bags have on the environment, hence providing businesses with the perfect opportunity to do their part for the environment.
Aidan Reed, Managing Director of Aidan J Reed, said: “The big supermarket chains having been making moves to cut down plastic bag usage by customers as the affects on the environment have become apparent, but I do not believe that it is just the responsibility of big business to enact positive change. Behavioural changes often start at the local level. So, by giving away free jute bags to our valued customers we are saying that we care about the environment and also that we want to give something back to the community. We hope that other Leicestershire businesses will follow our lead and voluntarily promote the use of reusable, environmentally-friendly bags.”
